If the car is newer than that, you will need the title — and if it is lost, the Florida DHSMV can issue a duplicate, usually within a few days. Call us and we will tell you exactly what applies to your situation before you go anywhere.

Your photo ID, the keys if you still have them, and the title or the registration. Take your license plate off before the driver leaves — in Florida the plate belongs to you, not the car, and you will want it to transfer or surrender. Clear out the glovebox and trunk too; we cannot return anything once the vehicle is processed.
Once the car is sold and the plate is off, contact your insurer to cancel that vehicle's coverage, and surrender the plate to the DHSMV if you are not transferring it to another car. Doing it in that order avoids a lapse notice from the state.
